Shloka 27

Arjuna’s request to Krishna and the opening of the Kāśyapa–Brāhmaṇa mokṣa discourse (Āśvamedhika-parva 16)

उपपन्नं च तत्सव॑॑ श्रुतचारित्रसंयुतम्‌ । भावेनातोषयच्चैनं गुरुवृत्त्या परंतप:

upapannaṃ ca tat sarvaṃ śrutacāritrasaṃyutam | bhāvenātoṣayac cainaṃ guruvṛttyā paraṃtapaḥ ||

Thấy vị hiền thánh ấy đầy đủ mọi điều cần thiết—học vấn dựa trên thánh điển đã được nghe và đời sống gắn với hạnh kiểm nghiêm cẩn—Kaśyapa, kẻ thiêu đốt quân thù, đã đến gần theo đúng phép. Với lòng thành từ tâm và cung cách đúng đạo làm trò đối với thầy, ông phụng sự và làm cho bậc đại hồn đã thành tựu ấy hoan hỷ.

Educational Q&A

Spiritual worth is measured by learning joined to upright conduct, and a disciple progresses through sincere inner devotion (bhāva) expressed as respectful service and proper teacher-oriented conduct (guru-vṛtti).
