महादानानि विप्रेभ्यो ददतामौर्ध्वदेहिकम् । भीष्मकर्णपुरोगाणां कुरूणां कुरुसत्तम
mahādānāni viprebhyo dadatām aurdhvadehikam | bhīṣma-karṇa-purogāṇāṁ kurūṇāṁ kurusattama
Vaiśampāyana nói: “Hỡi bậc tối thượng trong dòng Kuru, các dũng sĩ Kuru—do Bhīṣma và Karṇa dẫn đầu—đang ban những đại thí cho các Bà-la-môn, và cử hành các nghi lễ cùng việc bố thí gắn với người đã khuất (các bổn phận tang tế và hậu sự).”
