Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Instruction on Administration, Punishment, and Daily Governance
tam evaṁ-vādinaṁ rājā kuntīputro yudhiṣṭhiraḥ | uvāca vacanaṁ dhīmān joṣam āsveti bhartsayan |
Thấy người ấy nói như vậy, vua Yudhiṣṭhira—con trai Kuntī, bậc trí—liền quở trách và nói: “Hãy im đi.”
The verse highlights dharmic restraint in speech: when words become heated, accusatory, or disruptive—especially amid grief and the turn toward renunciation—the wise leader curbs them, choosing silence and composure over escalation.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Yudhiṣṭhira observes someone speaking in an improper or agitating manner and, as a discerning king, reprimands him with the command to remain silent (“joṣam āsva”).
