शक्यं होवाहवे योद्धं न दातुमनसूयितम्
śakyaṃ hovāhave yoddhaṃ na dātum anasūyitam
Bhīṣma nói: Trong chiến trận, có thể tìm được một chiến sĩ; nhưng không thể ban cho (hay bảo đảm có được) một người không ganh tị và không bới lỗi. Tâm tính ấy không thể chỉ trao tặng—nó phải được nuôi dưỡng như một phẩm hạnh đạo đức.
