sarvam etad aśeṣeṇa śrotum icchāmi tattvataḥ | kathyamānaṁ tvayā vipra viparṣigaṇa-sannidhau ||
Janamejaya nói: “Ta muốn nghe trọn vẹn mọi điều ấy, đúng như chân tướng. Hỡi bà-la-môn, trước hội chúng các bậc hiền triết lỗi lạc này, xin hãy thuật lại câu chuyện—hỡi bậc tối thượng trong hàng ‘nhị sinh’.”
जनमेजय उवाच
The verse emphasizes truthful and complete transmission of knowledge: the listener seeks an account “tattvataḥ” (as it really is), and the narrator is urged to speak responsibly before an assembly of sages, highlighting accuracy, integrity, and reverence in teaching.
King Janamejaya requests the brāhmaṇa narrator to recount the entire matter in full detail and with factual precision, specifically in the presence of gathered ṛṣis, indicating a formal, authoritative setting for the narration.
