तं॑ भुवः शोधनायेन्द्र उवाच पुरुषोत्तमम् । अंशेनावतरेत्येवं तथेत्याह च तं हरि:,उन भगवान् पुरुषोत्तमके पास जाकर इन्द्रने उनसे कहा--'प्रभो! आप पृथ्वीका शोधन (भार-हरण) करनेके लिये अपने अंशसे अवतार ग्रहण करें।” तब श्रीहरिने “तथास्तु' कहकर उनकी प्रार्थना स्वीकार कर ली
Taṁ bhuvaḥ śodhanāyendra uvāca puruṣottamam | Aṁśenāvatara ity evaṁ tathety āha ca taṁ hariḥ ||
Bấy giờ Indra đến trước Puruṣottama và thưa: “Lạy Chúa tể, để thanh tẩy cõi đất—gỡ bỏ gánh nặng áp bức—xin Ngài giáng thế bằng một phần của chính mình.” Hari (Viṣṇu) chấp thuận lời thỉnh cầu và đáp: “Hãy như vậy.”
