Duḥṣantasya Vana-praveśaḥ

King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt

Educational Q&A

Even an authority associated with justice is accountable for harm done through wrongful judgment; ethical failure brings consequences, and a curse functions here as a moral mechanism linking action to result.

The speaker condemns Dharma for causing his impalement and declares a curse: Dharma must take birth in a Śūdra womb. The verse also notes the outcome—Dharma indeed becomes incarnate through such a birth (traditionally connected with Dharma’s later birth as Vidura).
