Mandapāla nói: “Kìa—lửa đang bừng cháy, những lưỡi lửa liếm ngấu nghiến cây rừng. Trong tim ta, bị chấn động vì nỗi kinh hoàng trước ngọn lửa ấy, bừng lên một cơn đau đớn báo điềm dữ—một nỗi khổ ominous.”
मन्दपाल उवाच
The verse highlights moral urgency in the face of impending harm: when danger threatens life (here, a forest fire), one should not remain passive. The ‘inauspicious anguish’ functions as an ethical alarm—an inner signal prompting protective action and responsibility.
Mandapāla observes a forest fire spreading through the trees. The sight fills him with anxious, ominous distress, indicating immediate peril in the surrounding environment and setting up his next actions in response to the threat.
