रक्षसा तं गृहीतं तु विदित्वा मुनिसत्तम: । विश्वामित्रो5प्यपाक्रामत् तस्माद् देशादरिंदम,शत्रुसूदन! राक्षसने राजाको आविष्ट कर लिया है, यह जानकर मुनिवर विश्वामित्रजी भी उस स्थानसे चले गये
rakṣasā taṃ gṛhītaṃ tu viditvā munisattamaḥ | viśvāmitro 'py apākrāmat tasmād deśād arindama śatrusūdana ||
Biết rằng người ấy đã bị một rākṣasa bắt giữ, bậc hiền triết tối thượng Viśvāmitra cũng rút lui khỏi miền đất ấy—hỡi kẻ khuất phục quân thù, hỡi đấng diệt địch!
गन्धर्व उवाच
The verse highlights discernment and restraint: when confronted with an adharma-driven act (a rākṣasa’s seizure), the sage chooses withdrawal rather than impulsive escalation, protecting the higher aim of tapas and right conduct.
A Gandharva reports that someone has been captured by a rākṣasa; upon learning this, the sage Viśvāmitra leaves that place. The address “arindama/śatrusūdana” marks the listener as a heroic figure, framing the report within a martial-epic register.
