Vāraṇāvata-prasaṃsā and the Pāṇḍavas’ Departure

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how concealed intentions and seemingly harmless actions can shape major outcomes. It suggests ethical attentiveness: secrecy (gūḍhātmā) and careless play among the powerful can become causes for later conflict or revelation.

Droṇa remains hidden for a period. Afterwards, the royal princes go out from Hastināpura and gather together in a cheerful mood for play, setting the stage for an incident that will soon follow in the story.
