asūta rohiṇī rāmaṃ balaśreṣṭhaṃ halāyudham āśritaṃ kaṃsabhītyā ca svātmānaṃ śāntatejasam
Rohiṇī sinh ra Rāma (Balarāma) — bậc tối thắng về sức mạnh, đấng cầm cày làm vũ khí. Vì sợ Kaṃsa, Ngài nương náu nơi ấy và rạng ngời bằng quang minh an tịnh của chính tự ngã mình.
Suta Goswami
Though the verse is Vaishnava-linked in storyline (Balarama’s birth), it supports a key Linga Purana theme for devotees: refuge (āśraya) from fear and bondage (pāśa). In Linga-worship, surrender to Pati (Śiva) is the spiritual analogue of seeking protection amid worldly threats.
Indirectly, it highlights “śānta-tejas” (tranquil splendor) and “svātmā” (the inner Self). In Shaiva Siddhanta language, such serenity points to the purity of consciousness when the pashu turns inward toward the Self and ultimately toward Pati, the Lord who grants peace beyond fear.
The verse emphasizes āśraya (taking refuge) and inner tranquility. As a yogic takeaway aligned with Pāśupata discipline, it supports cultivating śānti (calmness), fearlessness, and remembrance of the Lord while living amid danger and instability.
