FAQs

It establishes the foundational purification steps—washing and sanctifying by sprinkling—performed with Oṁ, and it prescribes the correct ritual order of vessels (sprinkling, arghya, pādya) for disciplined Linga-puja.

By centering the rite on the Pranava (Oṁ), it implies Shiva as Pati—the supreme consciousness accessed through mantra—while the devotee (pashu) approaches Him by ordered purification, reducing pasha (impurity/bondage) through sacred procedure.

Mantra-saturated purification (prokṣaṇa) with Oṁ and systematic upacāra preparation (arghya and pādya), reflecting the Pāśupata emphasis on inner-and-outer śauca (purity) as a support for worship and contemplation.
