इति श्रीलैङ्गे महापुराणे प्रथमो ऽध्यायः सूत उवाच ईशानकल्पवृत्तान्तम् अधिकृत्य महात्मना ब्रह्मणा कल्पितं पूर्वं पुराणं लैङ्गम् उत्तमम्

iti śrīlaiṅge mahāpurāṇe prathamo 'dhyāyaḥ sūta uvāca īśānakalpavṛttāntam adhikṛtya mahātmanā brahmaṇā kalpitaṃ pūrvaṃ purāṇaṃ laiṅgam uttamam

Như vậy, trong Linga Mahāpurāṇa tôn kính, chương thứ nhất kết thúc. Sūta thưa: Thuở xưa, đấng Brahmā đại tâm đã soạn bộ Linga Purāṇa tối thượng, lấy câu chuyện về Īśāna-kalpa làm chủ đề—tỏ bày Đấng Pati, nhờ Śiva-tattva và thánh tượng Liṅga của Ngài mà giải thoát paśu (linh hồn bị trói) khỏi pāśa (xiềng buộc).
