Nārada’s Instruction to Vyāsa: The Defect of Bhakti-less Literature and the Mandate of Kṛṣṇa-kathā
स वै भवान् वेद समस्तगुह्य- मुपासितो यत्पुरुष: पुराण: । परावरेशो मनसैव विश्वं सृजत्यवत्यत्ति गुणैरसङ्ग: ॥ ६ ॥
sa vai bhavān veda samasta-guhyam upāsito yat puruṣaḥ purāṇaḥ parāvareśo manasaiva viśvaṁ sṛjaty avaty atti guṇair asaṅgaḥ
Lạy đức tôn chủ! Ngài biết mọi điều huyền mật, vì ngài thờ phụng Purusha nguyên thủy, Đấng Chúa tể của cả cõi tối thượng và cõi vật chất. Chỉ bằng tâm ý, Ngài tạo dựng, gìn giữ và tiêu dung vũ trụ, mà vẫn siêu việt, không vướng ba guṇa.
A person who is cent-percent engaged in the service of the Lord is the emblem of all knowledge. Such a devotee of the Lord in full perfection of devotional service is also perfect by the qualification of the Personality of Godhead. As such, the eightfold perfections of mystic power ( aṣṭa-siddhi ) constitute very little of his godly opulence. A devotee like Nārada can act wonderfully by his spiritual perfection, which every individual is trying to attain. Śrīla Nārada is a cent-percent perfect living being, although not equal to the Personality of Godhead.
This verse states that the Lord creates, maintains, and withdraws the universe through the material modes, yet He remains asaṅga—completely unattached and unaffected by those guṇas.
Nārada is affirming Vyāsa’s realization and worship of the primeval Supreme Person, while emphasizing the Lord’s transcendence—preparing Vyāsa to present pure devotional conclusions in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam.
Remembering that God is unattached while still fully responsible for cosmic order inspires devotees to act responsibly in the world, yet remain inwardly detached—offering results to the Lord through bhakti.
