The Dynasty of Vaivasvata Manu Begins — Ilā/Sudyumna and the Birth of Purūravā
तदिदं भगवानाह प्रियाया: प्रियकाम्यया । स्थानं य: प्रविशेदेतत् स वै योषिद् भवेदिति ॥ ३२ ॥
tad idaṁ bhagavān āha priyāyāḥ priya-kāmyayā sthānaṁ yaḥ praviśed etat sa vai yoṣid bhaved iti
Bấy giờ, để làm vừa lòng ái thê, Bhagavān Śiva nói: “Bất cứ nam nhân nào bước vào nơi này sẽ lập tức hóa thành nữ nhân!”
This verse explains the divine rule for that region: by the Lord’s declaration, anyone who entered that place would become a woman, which sets the basis for Sudyumna’s transformation in the narrative.
Śukadeva describes that the Lord spoke this rule to satisfy His beloved, establishing a specific condition for that sacred area as part of the unfolding līlā.
Actions have consequences shaped by context and higher laws; the verse encourages humility and caution—especially when entering situations governed by rules beyond one’s control.
