nānyadattam abhīpsyāmi sthānam amba svakarmaṇā icchāmi tad ahaṃ sthānaṃ yan na prāpa pitā mama
Dhruva (addressing his mother Sunīti)
It marks Dhruva’s shift from worldly insult to transcendental ambition—seeking a uniquely exalted, enduring status earned through tapas and devotion rather than inherited kingship.
Through Dhruva’s declaration and subsequent practice, the narrative frames disciplined effort and austerity as the vehicle that matures into divine favor, showing merit can transcend birth and courtly privilege.
Dhruva’s resolve ultimately points toward Vishnu as the supreme bestower of the highest state—one that is stable and cosmic in scope—reinforcing Vaishnava teaching that the ultimate station is secured by devotion aligned with dharma.
