युवयोर्गुणसंयुक्ता महर्षीणां प्रसादतः इत्येवमुक्त्वा जग्मुस्ते सर्व एव महर्षयः

Transliteration

yuvayorguṇasaṃyuktā maharṣīṇāṃ prasādataḥ ityevamuktvā jagmuste sarva eva maharṣayaḥ

Translation

“مہارشیوں کے فضل سے تم دونوں اوصاف و فضائل سے آراستہ ہو گے۔” یہ کہہ کر وہ سب مہارشی روانہ ہو گئے۔

Why does the boon include ‘virtues’ (guṇa) in addition to ‘sons’?

Purāṇic boons often pair external prosperity (offspring, kingdom, longevity) with inner excellence (guṇa), indicating that progeny and rulership are ideally accompanied by dhārmic character—especially when the boon is tied to tīrtha-merit and ṛṣi-blessing.

Who are the ‘you two’ (yuvayoḥ)?

The dual form points to a couple—contextually the king and queen mentioned in the next verse. The sages’ blessing is thus directed to both spouses, not only to the queen.

Does the sages’ departure have narrative significance?

Yes. Their exit marks the end of the sacred encounter; the narrative then returns to the human realm (the couple’s return to the city and the later fruition of the boon).
