Paingala Upanishad 17 — Verse 17

tataḥ pavitraṃ parameśvarākhyam advaitarūpaṃ vimalāmbarābham | yathodake toyam anupraviṣṭaṃ tathātmarūpo nirupādhisaṃsthitaḥ ||17||

Thereafter (one realizes) the Pure, called the Supreme Lord—of the nature of non-duality, resembling the stainless sky. As water has entered into water, so the form of the Self abides free of limiting adjuncts.

Brahman/Ātman non-duality; nirupādhi (freedom from adjuncts); identity/mergence imageryMahavakya: Directly aligns with “तत् त्वम् असि (tat tvam asi)” and “अहं ब्रह्मास्मि (ahaṃ brahmāsmi)” by asserting non-dual Brahman as one’s own Self when upādhis are negated; also resonates with “अयम् आत्मा ब्रह्म (ayam ātmā brahma)” through explicit ātma-rūpa.AtharvaChandas: Prose with metrical cadence (not strict Vedic chandas)
