Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva-worship procedure to the sages at Naimisharanya)

Tattva Level: pashu

Shiva Form: Īśāna

Sthala Purana: This is a general pūjā-conclusion instruction: the devotee transitions from presence (āvāhana/arcana) to respectful withdrawal (visarjana), acknowledging the mystery of divine immanence and transcendence.

Significance: Proper conclusion (visarjana) preserves ritual integrity and cultivates humility; the ‘vijñapti’ models personal surrender and ethical self-offering.

FAQs

It teaches that devotion is completed not only by offering, but also by humility and reverent closure—bowing, making a respectful utterance, and formally concluding worship so the mind remains disciplined and God-centered.

In Linga/Saguna worship, the deity is approached as present and responsive; therefore one offers a respectful request (vijñapti) and then performs visarjana—ending the rite with courtesy, surrender, and devotional order.

It suggests the concluding steps of puja: a reverential utterance, prostration (praṇāma), a humble petition, and the formal dismissal (visarjana), done with purity and humility—often alongside mantra-japa if already established in the rite.
