Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Jyotirlinga: Viśvanātha
Sthala Purana: Reverence (namaskāra) to the Śiva Purāṇa—even from afar—yields ‘sarvadevārcana-phala’, reflecting the Purāṇic hierarchy where devotion to Śiva (and his śāstra) subsumes worship of all devas; Kāśī/Viśveśvara is often portrayed as the axis of all devatās.
Significance: Validates minimal-access devotion: even distant salutation accrues comprehensive merit; supports diaspora/remote devotion and the idea of Śiva as sarvadevamaya.
Type: stotra
Role: nurturing
It teaches that reverence (namaskāra) to Śiva’s scripture itself is a powerful act of bhakti that grants vast spiritual merit, because the Purāṇa embodies Shiva-tattva and transmits Shiva’s grace.
In the Vidyeśvarasaṃhitā, devotion expressed through honoring Śiva’s forms and teachings is emphasized; bowing to the Śiva Purāṇa is treated like worship of Saguna Śiva, since the text functions as a sacred support (ālambana) for Shiva-bhakti and right understanding.
Perform namaskāra to the Śiva Purāṇa (or to its recitation/listening), and cultivate śraddhā; as a practical takeaway, one may begin study or śravaṇa with salutations and, where customary, japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
