कन्याव्रतं महाबुद्धे मम नष्टं भविष्यति । हसिष्यति तदा लोकाः पितरं किं ब्रवीम्यहम्
kanyāvrataṃ mahābuddhe mama naṣṭaṃ bhaviṣyati | hasiṣyati tadā lokāḥ pitaraṃ kiṃ bravīmyaham
اے عظیم فہم والے، میرا کنیا ورت برباد ہو جائے گا۔ تب لوگ مجھ پر ہنسیں گے—میں اپنے پتا سے کیا کہوں؟
Parvati (Umā)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shakti Form: Umā
Role: teaching
The verse highlights Umā’s inner discipline (vrata) and her sensitivity to dharma and familial honor—showing that devotion matures through self-restraint, accountability, and steadfast intention, not merely emotion.
Umā’s concern reflects the devotional ethos that leads to Saguna Shiva worship—approaching Śiva with purity, vow-based discipline, and integrity. Such vrata-oriented devotion is a common preparatory ground for Linga-centered worship in the Purāṇic tradition.
The takeaway is vrata-sādhana: maintaining purity of conduct, truthfulness, and resolve; practitioners may pair this with daily japa of the Panchākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as a vow-supported discipline.
