It highlights adhyātma-yoga as the liberating discipline that severs the ‘heart-knot’—the deep bondage of ego, ignorance, and attachment—leading the seeker toward Shiva-realization (Pati-jñāna) and moksha.
In the Shiva Purana, Saguna worship (such as Linga-puja with mantra and devotion) purifies the mind, and that purified mind becomes fit for adhyātma-yoga—inner contemplation through which the heart-knot is broken and the truth of Shiva is realized.
The verse points to an inward yogic practice (adhyātma): steady meditation and self-inquiry grounded in Shaiva devotion; as supportive aids, Shiva Purana commonly recommends japa (especially the Panchakshara), along with disciplines like bhasma and rudraksha to stabilize sadhana.
