Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pasha
It establishes the sacred guru-lineage of the Saptarishis—primordial seers born of Brahmā—through whom dharma and Vedic wisdom flow; in a Shaiva Siddhanta frame, such cosmic order supports the soul’s (paśu) gradual purification so it may turn toward Śiva (Pati).
By grounding the narrative in authoritative rishi-lineage, the Purana legitimizes the transmission of Shiva-worship—Linga devotion, mantra, and ritual discipline—received and taught by seers within the created order under Shiva’s supreme lordship.
The practical takeaway is reverence for rishi-paramparā: study of Shiva Purana under a teacher, steady japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and maintaining purity and discipline aligned with dharma as preserved by the sages.
