The Greatness and Typology of Tapas
सात्त्विकं तद्धि निर्दिष्टमशेषफलसाधकम् । इह लोके परे चैव मनोभिप्रेतसाधनम्
sāttvikaṃ taddhi nirdiṣṭamaśeṣaphalasādhakam | iha loke pare caiva manobhipretasādhanam
اسی کو ساتتوِک قرار دیا گیا ہے جو تمام پھلوں کو سِدھ کرنے والا ہے۔ یہ اِس لوک اور پرلوک—دونوں میں—دل کی مراد پوری کرتا ہے۔
Lord Shiva (in Umāsaṃhitā’s philosophical instruction context)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It praises sāttvika (pure) worship as the most elevating mode of practice—one that yields complete fruits while turning desire toward auspicious ends, ultimately aligning the soul (paśu) with Śiva (Pati) through purity and grace.
Sāttvika worship typically implies reverent, non-violent, purity-based offerings and steadiness of mind—qualities central to Saguna Śiva-upāsanā through the Śiva-liṅga, where disciplined devotion is said to grant both worldly welfare and higher liberation-oriented merit.
Adopt sāttvika sādhana: clean worship of the liṅga with pure offerings, japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), and a calm, restrained mind; such purity is presented as the key to fulfilling aims here and hereafter.
