Sthala Purana: Colophon: closes the chapter on Nandikeśvara-liṅga māhātmya and the brāhmaṇī’s svarga-gati; serves as textual frame rather than narrative action.
Significance: Signals the māhātmya genre: hearing/reciting the section is traditionally treated as śravaṇa-puṇya connected to liṅga devotion.
This is the chapter-colophon marking completion of a teaching narrative: it highlights that devotion to Śiva—especially through the Nandikeśvara Liṅga—bears transformative spiritual fruit, expressed here as the “attainment of heaven,” a step within the Purāṇic path toward higher liberation-oriented merit.
By explicitly naming the “Nandikeśvara Liṅga Māhātmya,” the text frames the Liṅga as Śiva’s accessible saguna focus for worship—an embodied sacred symbol through which grace, purification, and auspicious destiny are obtained.
Though this line is a colophon, its context implies regular Liṅga-upāsanā—such as abhiṣeka, offering of bilva leaves, and japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—as the practical devotional means associated with the chapter’s promised merit.
