Jyotirlinga: Kedāranātha
Sthala Purana: Colophon marking the conclusion of the chapter narrating the māhātmya (glory) of the Kedāreśvara Jyotirliṅga.
Significance: Signals the text’s intent as a kṣetra-māhātmya: hearing/reciting such sections is traditionally held to increase śraddhā and motivate tīrtha-yātrā.
This is a colophon verse marking the completion of the chapter that proclaims the māhātmya (spiritual glory) of the Kedāreśvara Jyotirliṅga, reinforcing that devotion to Śiva’s Jyotirliṅga form is a direct means toward purification and liberation.
By naming “Kedāreśvara Jyotirliṅga,” it points to Saguna worship of Śiva through the Liṅga—Śiva’s accessible, luminous presence—through which the devotee approaches the transcendent (Nirguṇa) reality.
It implicitly supports Jyotirliṅga-centered bhakti: pilgrimage/darśana of Kedāreśvara, Liṅga-pūjā with mantra-japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), along with traditional Śaiva disciplines like bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa where practiced.
