Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Mantra: hrām (and related syllables for ṣaḍaṅga-nyāsa); Astra-mantra (not quoted)
Role: teaching
It teaches that worship must be safeguarded by mantra-discipline: first establishing divine presence through nyāsa (inner sanctification), then protecting the support of worship (the lotus-seat) so the sādhaka’s offering remains pure and undisturbed—an outer sign of inner steadiness toward Pati (Śiva).
Nyāsa and consecration are preparatory acts for saguna-upāsanā: the Linga or deity is approached as a consciously invoked presence, and the seat/maṇḍala is ritually protected so the worship proceeds without obstacles, aligning body, speech, and mind with Śiva’s form.
Ṣaḍaṅga-nyāsa with “hrām” and allied syllables, followed by saṁprokṣaṇa (sprinkling) using the Astra-mantra to create a protective boundary—used as both a ritual protection and a meditative sealing of the worship-space.
