Puruṣa–Prakṛti Analysis in Advaita Śaiva Doctrine
मायया संकुचद्रूपस्तदधस्तादिति प्रभो । इति मे संशयं नाथ छेत्तुमर्हसि तत्त्वतः
māyayā saṃkucadrūpastadadhastāditi prabho | iti me saṃśayaṃ nātha chettumarhasi tattvataḥ
A disciple/devotee (in Kailasha Saṃhitā’s philosophical dialogue) addressing Lord Shiva as the teacher
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Shakti Form: Durgā
Role: liberating
It frames a seeker’s core problem: Māyā makes the limitless Reality appear limited and layered into lower states. The verse emphasizes that liberation begins with honest inquiry and receiving Shiva’s truth-based clarification (tattvataḥ).
Approaching Shiva as “Nātha/Prabhu” reflects Saguna devotion—seeking the Lord’s grace and instruction. In Shaiva Siddhanta, such devotion and right understanding together help the soul transcend Māyā’s contractions and realize Shiva beyond limitation.
The practical takeaway is tattva-vichāra (truth-inquiry) supported by Shiva-bhakti—daily japa of the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) while contemplating how Māyā limits perception, and praying for Shiva’s guidance to remove doubt.
