Exposition of the Supreme Method of Creation and the Tirodhāna-Cakra
tirobhāvo dvidhā bhinna eko rudrādigocaraḥ | anyaśca dehabhāvena paśuvargasya santateḥ
Suta Goswami (narrating the Kailāsasaṃhitā discourse to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Rudra
The verse distinguishes two modes of veiling (tirobhāva): a cosmic, divine-level concealment known to Rudra and higher beings, and a bondage-level concealment in which the soul (paśu) mistakes itself for the body—this latter is the core obstacle to liberation in Shaiva Siddhanta.
Linga/Saguna Shiva worship is presented as a compassionate means by which Pati (Shiva) removes the paśu’s body-based delusion; devotion, mantra, and right understanding gradually lift the veil that keeps the soul confined to deha-bhāva.
The practical takeaway is to counter deha-bhāva through Shiva-upāsanā—steady japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with inner detachment from bodily identity; supportive observances like Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa can be adopted as Shaiva disciplines.
