It emphasizes niyama (right order) in worship: honoring Pitṛs and then offering in a prescribed sequence purifies the worshipper’s karmic ties, supporting a Shaiva life of discipline that leads toward Shiva’s grace.
In Shaiva practice, orderly offerings to devas and Pitṛs are supportive rites (aṅga) that steady the mind and remove obstacles; this prepares the devotee for focused Saguna Shiva/Liṅga worship where devotion culminates in Shiva’s anugraha (grace).
A structured offering practice: invoke the Pitṛs with the stated utterance, worship them directly, then give offerings sequentially in the five designated stations beginning with the devas—performed with mindful attention and purity.
