The Token of Recognition (Chūḍāmaṇi) and the Crow Episode Recalled
द्वितीयं कारणं यच्च ब्रवीषि विनयान्विते।रामादन्यस्य नार्हामि संस्पर्शमिति जानकि ।।5.38.4।।एतत्ते सदृशं देवि पत्न्यास्तस्य महात्मनः।का ह्यन्या त्वामृते देवि ब्रूयाद्वचनमीदृशम्।।5.38.5।।
dvitīyaṃ kāraṇaṃ yac ca bravīṣi vinayānvitē |
rāmād anyasya nārhāmi saṃsparśam iti jānaki || 5.38.4 ||
etat te sadṛśaṃ devi patnyās tasya mahātmanaḥ |
kā hy anyā tvām ṛte devi brūyād vacanam īdṛśam || 5.38.5 ||
اور دوسرا سبب جو آپ نہایت انکساری سے بیان کرتی ہیں، اے جانکی: “رام کے سوا میں کسی اور کے لمس کی سزاوار نہیں”—اے دیوی، یہ بات اُس مہاتما کی پتنی کے شایانِ شان ہے۔ اے ملکہ، آپ کے سوا اور کون ایسی بات کہہ سکتا ہے؟
'(Addressing Rama as though he was present before her, Sita said) 'O lord of the earth! for my sake you released the weapon of Brahma on a crow. What makes you excuse him who has abducted me?
Marital fidelity and personal boundaries are framed as dharma: Sītā’s refusal of any other man’s touch is upheld as righteous self-restraint (śīla).
Hanumān responds to Sītā’s modest refusal, praising her reasoning as worthy of Rāma’s wife.
Sītā’s vinaya (humility/modesty) and steadfast chastity; Hanumān recognizes these as marks of satya and dharma.
