The Token of Recognition (Chūḍāmaṇi) and the Crow Episode Recalled
वैदेह्या वचनं श्रुत्वा करुणं साश्रुभाषितम्।अथाब्रवीन्महातेजा हनुमान्मारुतात्मजः।।5.38.49।।
vaidehyā vacanaṃ śrutvā karuṇaṃ sāśru-bhāṣitam | athābravīn mahātejā hanumān mārutātmajaḥ ||5.38.49||
وَیدَہی کے درد بھرے، آنسوؤں میں ڈوبے ہوئے کلمات سن کر، پھر عظیم تَجَلّی والے ہنومان، پون کے پتر، یوں گویا ہوئے۔
Hearing the piteous words of Vaidehi and beholding her eyes filled with tears, the Wind-god's son, lustrous Hanuman replied thus:.
It points to dūta-dharma and compassion: the messenger must respond responsibly and consolingly to the suffering of the one he serves.
After Sītā’s lament and doubts, the narration transitions to Hanumān’s spoken response.
