Hanuman’s Circuit of Ravana’s Palace and the Crisis of Deliberation

"I shall enter water and drown myself to death if I am not able to find Janaki. I think this way of ending life has been suggested by great ascetics.
It highlights a mistaken ethical inference: citing authority for self-ending under distress. The broader dharmic resolution in the passage moves away from suicide toward sustaining life to complete one’s righteous task.
Hanuman considers drowning if he cannot find Sītā, trying to justify it as a recognized ‘departure’ taught by seers.
Reverence for tradition (śāstra/ṛṣi-vacana), though here it is applied under emotional turmoil.
