Angada’s Counsel and the Vanaras’ Despondency at the Ocean
ko 'nyas tāṃ vānarīṃ senāṃ śaktaḥ stambhayituṃ bhavet | anyatra vālitanayād anyatra ca hanūmataḥ ||
Then the illustrious Angada, subduer of foes took the counsel of elderly monkeys and the army into confidence and thus addressed them all in meaningful words:
Fitness for responsibility: dharma recognizes capability (yogyatā) and self-mastery as grounds for guiding others in moments of crisis.
The text underscores that only the most authoritative and capable figures—Aṅgada and Hanūmān—can control the volatile energies of the assembled host.
Commanding influence rooted in merit: Aṅgada’s rightful authority and Hanūmān’s proven strength and steadiness.
