Sugriva on Surveying the Earth’s Regions
udayaṁ tatra paśyāmi parvataṁ dhātumaṇḍitam |
kṣīrodaṁ sāgaraṁ caiva nityam apsarasālayam ||
'O king! chased thus by Vali, I ran and turned back and ran again-fast.
The ethical emphasis is on satya as accurate witnessing—Sugrīva reports what he personally observed while fleeing, strengthening credibility in counsel and alliance.
Sugrīva recounts the far-ranging course of his flight as Vālī chased him, describing landmarks he saw in the eastern direction.
Truthfulness and clarity in narration—reporting concrete details rather than exaggeration.
