janakasya vacaḥ śrutvā niṣasāda mahāmuniḥ |
purodhā ṛtvijaś caiva rājā ca saha mantribhiḥ ||
In response to Janaka's words, great sage Viswamitra occupied his seat. Thereafter the family priests, officiationg priests of the sacrifice, counsellors and also the king occupied their seats according to their rank.
Dharma here appears as proper conduct in a sacred setting—maintaining decorum and order (yajña-maryādā), honoring a sage, and observing social-ritual propriety.
At Janaka’s sacrificial venue, after Janaka speaks, Viśvāmitra sits; then the royal and priestly assembly takes their seats formally.
Janaka’s reverence and administrative propriety: he ensures orderly proceedings and respect toward spiritual authority.
