Kaikeyī’s Protest
तथोक्ता सा समाश्वस्ता वक्तुकामा तदप्रियम्।।।।परिपीडयितुं भूयो भर्तारमुपचक्रमे।
tathoktā sā samāśvastā vaktukāmā tad apriyam | paripīḍayituṃ bhūyo bhartāram upacakrame ||
یوں کہے جانے پر وہ مطمئن ہو گئی؛ مگر وہ ناگوار مطالبہ زبان پر لانے کی خواہش سے، اپنے پتی کو پھر سے زیادہ رنج پہنچانے لگ گئی۔
Thus spoken to, she (Kaikeyi) breathed a sigh of relief. Intending to tell him the unpleasant thing (which was in her mind), she began tormenting her husband all the more.ityārṣē śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē ayōdhyākāṇḍē daśamassargaḥ৷৷Thus ends the tenth sarga of Ayodhyakanda of the holy Ramayana, the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
Dharma cautions against coercion: even before speaking, she uses emotional pressure, showing how unrighteous means can corrupt a demand.
After Daśaratha comforts her, Kaikeyī prepares to state her harsh request and intensifies her pressure upon him.
