Handsome Rama and Lakshmana, glowing in their radiance held the bows and exited with Sita. Thus ends the eighth sarga of Aranyakanda of the holy Ramayana the first epiccomposed by sage Valmiki.
Dharma is proper etiquette (maryādā): acknowledging hospitality, honoring the worthy, and taking leave respectfully rather than departing abruptly.
Rāma addresses Sutikṣṇa to express gratitude for the stay and to request permission to depart, since other sages wish them to continue their journey.
Gratitude and humility—Rāma credits the sage’s honor and seeks leave with courteous speech.
