Kabandha’s Release and Counsel to Befriend Sugriva
evam uktau tu tau vīrau kabandhena nareśvarau | giripradaram āsādya pāvakaṃ visasarjatuḥ ||
Thus said by Kabandha, the two lords of men, the heroes reached a cave in the mountain and lighted the fire.
Even amid hardship, one should perform rightful duties—here, honoring a being’s request and completing the proper rite, reflecting compassion and adherence to dharma.
After Kabandha’s counsel, Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa proceed to a mountain cleft and light a fire as part of the rite connected with Kabandha’s release.
Responsibility and compassion: the brothers act promptly to fulfill what is ethically and ritually appropriate.
