Mārkaṇḍeya uvāca | gurubhir aniyamair yukto bharato nāma pāvakaḥ | agniḥ puṣṭimatir nāma tuṣṭaḥ puṣṭiṃ prayacchati | bharaty eṣa prajāḥ sarvās tato bharata ucyate |
مارکنڈیہ نے کہا— یودھشٹھِر! ‘بھرت’ نام کا ایک مقدس آگنی ہے جو بھاری پابندیوں اور سخت ریاضتوں سے منضبط ہے۔ وہ خوش ہو تو پُشتی اور فراوانی عطا کرتا ہے؛ اسی لیے اس کا ایک نام ‘پُشٹِمتی’ بھی ہے۔ چونکہ وہ تمام پرجا کو سنبھالتا اور پالता ہے، اس لیے اسے ‘بھرت’ کہا جاتا ہے۔
