dhik pārthasya dhanuṣmattāṁ bhīmasenasya dhig balam | yatra duryodhanaḥ kṛṣṇa muhūrtam api jīvati, bhagavan ||

Educational Q&A

The verse expresses that power and skill carry moral responsibility: when adharma has become intolerable, failing to restrain or end the wrongdoer is treated as a disgrace to those capable of protecting righteousness.

Vaiśampāyana, narrating events, voices a sharp rebuke: if Duryodhana can survive even a moment in the present crisis, then Arjuna’s archery and Bhīma’s strength are being rendered meaningless—an indictment meant to spur decisive action against the chief agent of adharma.
