Arjuna’s Address to Krishna: Agency, Action, and Immediate Counsel
yathā cātmani kalyāṇaṃ sambhāvayasi pāṇḍava | sahasraguṇam apy etat tvayi sambhāvayāmy aham pāṇḍunandana ||
True virtue is recognized and affirmed by the wise and loving: Bhīma highlights ethical excellence and humility—when a noble person underrates himself, a well-wisher may rightly esteem him even more, strengthening moral resolve.
In Udyoga Parva’s pre-war deliberations, Bhīma addresses a Pāṇḍava brother with affectionate respect, declaring that the good qualities the addressee sees in himself are present in him a thousandfold—an encouragement meant to affirm worth and fortitude.
