Reconciling Contingency and Human Effort
भीमसेन उवाच अन्यथा मां चिकीर्षन्तमन्यथा मन्यसे<च्युत । प्रणीतभावमत्यर्थ युधि सत्यपराक्रमम्
bhīmasena uvāca anyathā māṁ cikīrṣantam anyathā manyase 'cyuta | praṇīta-bhāvam atyarthaṁ yudhi satya-parākramam ||
بھیم سین نے کہا—اے اچیوت! تم مجھے ایک طرح سنبھالنا چاہتے ہو اور میرے بارے میں دوسری طرح گمان کرتے ہو۔ تم مجھے حد سے زیادہ مطیع اور آسانی سے چلنے والا سمجھتے ہو—حالانکہ جنگ میں میرا پرाकرم سچا اور اٹل ہے۔
भीमसेन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical distinction between restraint and weakness: a warrior may accept guidance and remain controlled, yet still possess proven valor. It cautions against misjudging character based on outward compliance.
Bhīma addresses Kṛṣṇa (Acyuta), protesting that Kṛṣṇa seems to be treating him as overly pliant or manageable. Bhīma asserts that, despite any outward restraint, his battlefield prowess is genuine and should not be underestimated.
