Moral knowledge without moral courage is ineffective: Dhṛtarāṣṭra recognizes the Pāṇḍavas’ virtue and strength, yet his attachment and weakness cannot restrain his son’s unrighteous resolve, illustrating how adharma advances when rightful counsel is not enforced.
In the lead-up to the Kurukṣetra war, Dhṛtarāṣṭra speaks to Sañjaya, lamenting that despite his own cries of objection, Duryodhana remains determined to fight the Pāṇḍavas, who are described as fully virtuous and powerfully formidable.
