Educational Q&A

The verse highlights personal accountability within dharma: a warrior consciously accepts a defined responsibility in a righteous conflict, directing his effort toward the agent of wrongdoing (Śakuni) rather than acting aimlessly or vindictively.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Sahadeva has chosen Śakuni—Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s brother-in-law and a key instigator of the feud—as the opponent he will personally take on when war begins.
