Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the martial duty and resolve of the Pāṇḍava side: disciplined leadership (Dhṛṣṭadyumna at the front) and collective effort (the Draupadeyas) directed toward a formidable elder (Droṇa). Ethically, it underscores the tragic tension of kṣatriya-dharma—war compels even attacks upon revered teachers when allegiance and justice are contested.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra a battlefield development/forecast: the Draupadeyas, conspicuous with gold-adorned standards and renowned archery, will move forward under Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s lead to engage Droṇa in combat.
