भीष्मप्रतापात्‌ कुरवो नयेनान्धकवृष्णय: । यज्ञ तस्य वशे जग्मु: केवलं दैवमेव तत्‌,भीष्मजीके प्रतापसे कुरुवंशी और नीतिबलसे अंधक-वृष्णिवंशके लोग जो जरासंधके वशमें नहीं पड़े, वह केवल दैवयोग था

bhīṣma-pratāpāt kuravo nayenāndhaka-vṛṣṇayaḥ | yajas tasya vaśe jagmuḥ kevalaṃ daivam eva tat ||

بھیشم کے رعب اور کوروؤں کی سیاست و تدبیر کے سبب اندھک اور ورشنی اس کے قابو میں نہ آئے؛ سنجے، یہ تو محض تقدیر کا ہی کرشمہ تھا۔
