Vidura-nīti: Atithi-dharma, Trust, Counsel-Secrecy, and Traits of Sustainable Rule
Udyoga Parva, Adhyāya 38
duryodhanena yady etat pāpaṃ teṣu purākṛtam tvayā tat kulavṛddhena pratyānīyaṃ nareśvara
Elders and rulers bear responsibility to correct and atone for wrongs committed within their family or realm; timely rectification is a dharmic duty that prevents greater harm.
Vidura counsels the king (Dhṛtarāṣṭra) that if Duryodhana has wronged the Pāṇḍavas, the king—being the senior of the Kuru line—must ensure the offense is remedied rather than allowed to escalate toward war.
