Adhyaya 32: Saṃjaya’s Return, Audience with Dhṛtarāṣṭra, and Ethical Admonition
tvaramāṇaś ca lubdhaś ca bhītaḥ kāmī ca te daśa | tasmād eteṣu sarveṣu na prasajjeta paṇḍitaḥ, mahārāja dhṛtarāṣṭra ||
A discerning person should avoid attachment or reliance on people (or mental states) dominated by haste, greed, fear, and lust—along with the broader set of ten impairing conditions—because such drives cloud judgment and obstruct dharma.
In Udyoga Parva, Vidura counsels King Dhṛtarāṣṭra on righteous conduct and sound decision-making during the tense pre-war diplomacy; here he lists unfit dispositions and warns the king not to be swayed by them.
