Ambā Seeks Refuge with Rāma Jāmadagnya
mama tu vyasanasyāsya bhīṣmo mūlaṃ mahāvrataḥ | yenāhaṃ vaśamānītā samutkṣipya balāt tadā |
The verse highlights the ethical weight of coercion: even when performed by a renowned vow-keeper, an act done “by force” can become the perceived root of another’s suffering, showing how power used without consent generates lasting moral and personal consequences.
The speaker attributes her present misfortune to Bhīṣma, stating that he once forcibly lifted and carried her away, subduing her and taking her to Hastināpura—framing Bhīṣma’s intervention as the initiating cause of her distress.
